@Curtis - Unfortunately your theory doesn't take their business model into consideration.

Someone - for whatever reason - added you to the Jigsaw database. While I won't defend Jigsaw or their ilk for spamming people that have not given their direct permission to receive email, I have seen no evidence of any sort of harvesting or dictionary attacks.

It's my theory that these are phishing emails- meaning you are not added to their list until you click the link. I just received one myself, I will ignore it and post again if I see another email.

I just received a similar email from jigsaw (which is how I found your post here). I have to tell you that the email listed with jigsaw is brand new -- I've only had it for 6 weeks and it'll be closed out within a week because I'm temporary faculty and my position is now over. Only students and other faculty even know to use this email -- I don't use it for anything else. So, how did jigsaw pick it up so quickly when I haven't listed it anywhere at all for any reference. Like you, I shouldn't care -- just opt out or in my case let it go since the email account will be closed soon anyway, but I can't. I purposely make sure to keep my email addresses off lists and still it happens. Plus, as you said, they don't make it easy to get off their list.
