It's all over rated! However, I do except McCain-Palin emails although, they lack much change from day-to-day. The Obama campaign emails lack substance and I have stopped receiving them for that very reason. Now, if both campaigns could only segment their campaign emails to speak to each and every person with particular issues important to each individual then I think then we would have a reason to actually open all they send. Until then, I'll keep deleting without opening every other day. ;)

We're able to track and analyze one unique sample per suspected mail blast for inclusion or authorization and we've seen a lot more of the conservative base sending than liberals (but that's because our end users are more registered republicans than democrats), obviously.

While I don't have any concrete numbers on any particular organization and it's not our job to track them, I would say that most of the republican mailings are HTML loaded focused on party goodness and "the greatness" rather than the text only grassroots "you're part of the 2 million who donated 5 dollars mr. or mrs. "x" the Obama et al camp pitches. The latest nrcc.org mailing has been stating "McCain-Palin Energizes the Republican Party" for the last 5 days. It's been the same newsletter at our catch accounts over and over. I expect to see more as we get closer to the election. During the 2006 elections we had to authorize much more e-mail from the Republican camp than Democrat but I agree that the Democrats have utilized e-mail communication in a much better manner than Republicans, mostly due to content and their "pitch". Asking for $5.00 is easier than asking for 50 or 100 just because someone else will match the donation. 5.00 is a cup of coffee while 50.00 is a tank of gas.

It seems there are more conservative organizations than liberal ones, but then again our data could be skewed based on the preference of the end user, rather than who's actually sending more messages. It also appears this lists are mostly direct, rather than managed by 3rd mailers. I have no idea of the deliverable percentage on these mailings nationwide and since we're apolitical, they all reach their recipient at our systems.
