Yes you should be ensuring that you are getting value from your ESP, but coming up with reasons to &quot;fire them&quot;, hardly shows you in a good light. All business relationships are just that - relationships! ESP&#039;s and marketers need to work together in order to get the maximum return for the client, the orginal post does nothing to help it.

Good point that only 30% of functionality is used - so true.

People do outgrow there vendors from time to time, but the original six reasons were a bit shaky as KEY things to consider when evaluating your current/new ESP and looking to fire them.

One of the biggest issues ESPs face is the price cutting one (#1) - Lower prices actually allow for more mainstream spam to be sent (even opt-in mailers) that is starting to become the real problem for many businesses and ISPs... Over mailing, off topic messages, un-targeted mailings - if CPMs were higher I&#039;d bet people would start thinking before pulling the trigger and Blasting (Hi DJ!) away. :)
